About
Running bit me at the Knysna Half Marathon in mid-2007 when, a beer induced challenge saw me don a pair of 1990′s edition Polly Shorts originals and equally expired New Balance shoes and attack the half marathon course. Whilst I pushed myself at the time to try and impress the woman whom I had recently met (and am now dating) I struggled to the finish somewhere around the 2:10 mark and resolved right then and there to become a “runner”.
Since then, I’ve completed a number of standard marathons, two Two Oceans Marathons (56km) and two Comrades Marathons (89km). My goal for 2010 is to run personal bests at both Two Oceans and Comrades as well as make my debut at the New York City Marathon later this year.
I have put this website together to chart my progress as a I prepare for the New York City Marathon this year, to raise funds for the JAG Sports and Education Foundation and to increase their profile as an organisation doing great work in some of South Africa’s most needy communities.
I am fortunate to live and train in Cape Town, South Africa, the most beautiful city in one of the most beautiful countries in the world.
